I enjoy the simpler machines that were marketed for students or as starter typewriters. Most are simple; no ribbon color selection, no tabs, rarely had margin release, just a back spacer and upper case shift.
This Varsity typewriter by Royal from 1940, has a new platen from J.J. Short and new rubber feet by Steve Dade.
It is a nice typer and the 10 cpi Pica typeface is clear and crisp.
Of course I installed PURPLE ribbon. It is a Royal after all.
Comes with a sorta beat up case.
