Recently, one of the folks who get my web update emails lamented I should show more of our work. Not posting just the copious amount of typewriters for sale, actual worky work stuff. They mentioned liking posts with before and after stuff.
Well, I’m not much for the click and work, click and work, clickclickclick. On the other glove, I get it. You probably ask your self, what the heck are they doing? Lisa, Griffin and I were recently looking at the repair queue and realized how many Royal Standards we’d accumulated waiting for service. All this to tell you about the one I took off the shelf. A 1950 Royal KMG and WHAT A DIRT BUCKET!
This sucker came in for some serious cleaning. It was classic; tobacco residue out the wazzu, copious and hardened eraser dust, bad feet, you name it. So I took some pictures. And damn it, I forgot to take one before I started. I only thought about writing this when I opened up the machine and had a holy crap moment.
And I’m sooo glad we have ventilated solvent stations, and hearing protection, and gloves. Feast your eyes on this cleaning sensation.

I like the Tulane University label under the cover.
