I thought you might like to see a nice Royal Companion from the year 1950. Originally called the Arrow, now it is your “Companion”. Love the marketers. This one is clean and even the case is in nice shape.
The typewriter came into the shop for the normal stuff; cleaning, back spacer not working and multiple sticking type bars.

These are fun, basic machines with no ribbon color section and no tabulator. The cleaning went as expected with the type bars freeing up after a few flushes.
The back spacer needed a couple adjustments. Every time I get a Royal portable in with the back spacer out of adjustment I wonder why? Why? Why? Why? I mean really, the mechanism is buried deep in the back. You really have to pry the adjustment up with force to move it, so why? Bugs me. Well, bad coffee used to bug me. Now I’ll drink the stuff days old and even cold.
