Remington Monarch Pioneer from 1937

June 15, 2019 By Paul

Nick brought in this Remington Monarch Pioneer, serial number C110280, from 1937. This little bit of simplicity is in top condition.

Top condition means it is a Remington from the thirties, so it needed a new platen, paper rollers, feet and a drawcord (don’t they all!). If you had to have a super reliable machine, with the fewest parts to go wrong, I think I found your Apocalypse machine!

Seriously, all the factory connection points for such things as back space, margins, margin release and shift lock are here, just not installed. I particularly enjoy the abbreviated number row. The simplicity features are; no back space, no shift lock, no margins nor margin release, no tabs, not even a carriage return lever!

Purple ribbon takes this one over the top.
