This customer machine has been in their family a long, long time and ready for a renewal. I like the base model typewriters and this Royal Signet came into the shop needing a new paper roller, new feet, the ribbon vibrator needed repair and the ribbon was not feeding. This model features only upper case letters, possibly called Monoface, no back space, left margin only, no bell, no shift, no tabs, manual ribbon reverse; a very simple machine.
The ribbon feed was missing the spring that keeps the ratchet assembly engaged and when the missing part was installed, ribbon feed was clock work steady.
The left side of the ribbon vibrator received a tiny formed stainless steel arm soldered in place. The paper roller was flat and stuck to the bottom of the paper tray, so after prying that long sucker loose it was endowed with new rubber.
It was fun renewing all the little things that make a typewriter put print on paper. Very satisfying.
