Ninety Nine Percent Moved

October 23, 2025 By Paul

Well. Here we are. Ninety nine percent moved to the 286 4th Street building. The old space sure looks larger without all our stuff. The only thing left is getting the drill press moved, the old HEAVY orange desk out and removing the exhaust ducting. And and and and we will meet the goal of getting out before the lease expires at the end of October. We are already missing the view and amazing daylight the old shop had. The new space gifts … [Read more...]

1922 Remington Standard 12 Typewriter in for Service

October 20, 2025 By Paul

This is a customer machine in for a good cleaning. Such a stately beast. Boy, this one was a dirt bucket. Lisa really cleaned it up nice. From the year 1922, this typewriter features a decimal tabulator. Look at the tab stops. One, two, three, four, five. Each corresponds to the red key tops in the front. I love the side mounted ribbon spools. I find the right side carriage return lever a bit annoying, yet the key action on … [Read more...]

1957 Brown Royal HHP Typewriter In For Service

October 16, 2025 By Paul

This is a customer machine in for service. I work on soooo many Royal Standard typewriters. The HH series is one of my favorites. This one features Pica type face. I love the tabulator as I only need to swiftly brush the heel of my hand on the lever. This one needed a good cleaning as the tabs were sluggish and the ribbon feed kept hanging up. The only repair; a screw missing on the space bar. Types nice. HPP-6049411 … [Read more...]

Adler Primus, A typical service

August 16, 2025 By Paul

This Adler Primus is a customer machine in for service. We see some pretty common items with this model. Mostly related to the typewriter attaching to the bottom of the case. The rubber hold down mechanism is ALWAYS toast. Delicious, delicious toast. The rubber feet at the bottom of the case are readily missing along with the felt cover for the rectangle typewriter feet, resting on the case bottom. With this typewriter the ribbon had … [Read more...]

Mr. Montgomery – World War II Memories – Act Six

June 18, 2025 By Paul

Occasionally, I publish some of Mr. Montgomery's musings edited only for grammatical errors. Here is another of his reflection of earlier times. Mr. Montgomery wrote about much of his time enlisted in the U.S. Army, and this is ACT SIX of SIX. ROBERT MONTGOMERY – Wartime ACT SIX - Headquarters in Germany How to get involved in a WAR and stay SANE (or thereabouts) Along about April 1945 I was sent with some other fellows to the locale … [Read more...]
